How to choose face moisturiser

Choosing the right face moisturiser depends on the type of skin you have. While all skin types need moisturiser, different skin types have different needs.  Dry skin needs intense hydration, oily skin needs a light moisturiser that will balance skin hydration and oil production, and sensitive skin needs moisturiser that does not contain added chemicals or preservatives that may cause redness and flare-ups.

What is an emollient?

Emollients work to keep the skin hydrated by preventing water loss from the outer layer of the
skin. They create a protective film to help keep the skin moist and supple and can be found in moisturisers, lotions, lipstick, and other cosmetic products.

How does moisturiser work?

Along with emollients, moisturisers contain substances called humectants that are able to attract water, therefore conserving the water in the skin. Moisturisers also create a protective film to help the skin keep out factors from the environment that can cause dryness.
